All you have to do is:

1) create a Book Fair eWallet so parents can contribute money (as little as $1) towards books for your classroom.

2) Share your eWallet info with parents. Your eWallet must have at least $1 for me to see it.

Teacher prizes will be drawn Thursday morning of 10/28.

All certificates must be redeemed by noon on 11/1.

Prizes:

1 -- $50 shopping certificate

2 -- $25 shopping certificates

3 -- $10 shopping certificates

In addition, all teachers will receive a $5 certificate from scholastic off of a $20 purchase. This may not be combined with the above certificates because they come out of two different funding sources. These too must be redeemed by noon on 11/1.

Open Check Out For 2nd Grade

2nd grade students will receive information this week about open check out. Students may come to library during open check out time the day AFTER their library class. Please send students in small groups. Ten minutes is a sufficient time for most students.

Open Check out basics:

  1. Times:

    1. 7:30-8:00 (must go to class first)

    2. 11:00-11:30

  2. Return to class. If you come with a small group, then leave when you are done without waiting for the group.

Each 2nd grade teacher will get a set of paper library cards for students to bring to the library to use for open check out. These are also in a google folder. I’ll update the PDFs periodically for new students.

Student Notices:

Students can have a total of 3 books checked out on their accounts.

Every Monday, they get an email from me reminding them of which books they have checked out. Books may be overdue in Destiny, but I tell them that books are not due until they finish them!

Teacher Notices:

Beginning October 1, teachers will start getting notices for what your students have checked out twice a month (1st & 15th). This is just to help us keep track of them. I'll be printing some paper reminders for those books that are more than a month overdue to be sent home.

Please remind parents of library day!

Books for your classroom libraries!

Books from the book drive are on the top shelf in the book room. They are alphabetical by author (for the most part), so if you have something in particular that you are looking for, you can locate it if it's there. We have picture books to chapter books for you to choose from.

Please come by and pick some up for your classroom! Take what you want. I just got in 7 more boxes to sort.

Thanks to our CGE families and Chatham Reads for these donations.

Open Check Out 3rd-5th Grades

Students may be sent to the library in small groups. Ten minutes is a sufficient time for most students.

Open Check out basics:

  1. Times:

    1. 7:30-8:00 (must go to class first)

    2. 11:00-11:30

  2. Return to class. If you come with a small group, then leave when you are done without waiting for the group.

Each 3-5 teacher got a set of paper library cards for students to bring to the library to use for open check out. These are also in a google folder. I’ll update the PDFs periodically for new students.

Second graders will get instructions the week of 9/27. We are still working on check in/out skills.

K-1st Grades

Please remind families about upcoming library days. Students will be learning to check in and out their own books, so if they come with their books in their hands, that helps with the process. It’s not crucial, and K is a long way from this, but it does help set the stage. Students get three books on their account at a time, and some have already reached their limit.

After we get open check out rolling for 2nd-5th grades, I’ll look at options for k-1st grades.
