Check in:

  • Check in at voice level 0

  • Sit in seats to listen/watch read alouds while classmates check in

Some extra info about checking in
  • If you want to keep books, check in the book and re-check out when it's time.
  • 3 book limit
  • everyone needs a book for end of class.

Part 2: Stations and Check out (20-25 minutes)

Stations

  • Station numbers match table numbers.

  • 7 is called first this week for stations & check out

  • Checking out & stations at the same time are complicated.

Expectations:

  • Stay at the station you are assigned. It will change each week, so you'll get to do others. 3rd-5th will eventually get to choose stations.

  • Walk.

  • Use voice level 1 or 2 in stations.

  • When you hear our signal (clapping pattern), then stop, look, and listen.

How well your class follows directions, determines how quickly we can move to station choice.

When you check out:

  • Find your books quickly.

  • Check them out.

  • Take them to your seat at the front of the room.

  • Return to station.

Last 10 minutes

  • Clean up your station,

  • Push in your chairs,

  • Return to your regular table and read silently.

Part 3: Silent reading in 2nd-5th OR more read aloud with k-1 (5-10 minutes)

Part 4: End of class. Right before time is up (1 minute)

  • Stand up and push in chairs

  • Walk to floor number that matches table number to wait for teacher
